Shanghai International Studies University (SISU) is the first university in China specializing in foreign languages. The university offers 29 languages, including English, Russian, French, German, Spanish, Arabic, Japanese, Greek, Italian, Portuguese, and more. New programs in classical and artificial languages continue to be introduced.
New China and SISU were established in the same year (1949).
The university has evolved from the Shanghai Russian Institute under the East China People's Revolutionary University to the Shanghai University of Foreign Languages. In 1994, it was renamed to its current title.

Shanghai International Studies University, или Шанхайский университет иностранных языков (SISU) первый вуз в КНР, специализирующийся на иностранных языках. В вузе преподают 29 языков: английский, русский, французский, немецкий, испанский, арабский, японский, греческий, итальянский, португальский и др. Продолжают открываться новые специальности по классическим, искусственным языкам.
