Shanghai International Studies University (SISU) is the first university in China specializing in foreign languages. The university offers 29 languages, including English, Russian, French, German, Spanish, Arabic, Japanese, Greek, Italian, Portuguese, and more. New programs in classical and artificial languages continue to be introduced.
New China and SISU were established in the same year (1949).
The university has evolved from the Shanghai Russian Institute under the East China People's Revolutionary University to the Shanghai University of Foreign Languages. In 1994, it was renamed to its current title.

Shanghai International Studies University, или Шанхайский университетиностранных языков(SISU) первый вуз в КНР, специализирующийся на иностранных языках. В вузе преподают 29 языков: английский, русский, французский, немецкий, испанский, арабский, японский, греческий, итальянский, португальский и др. Продолжают открываться новые специальности по классическим, искусственным языкам.
Новый Китай и SISU были образованы в один и тот же год. Университет прошёл путь от Шанхайского института русского языка при Народном революционном университете Восточного Китая до Шанхайского университета иностранных языков. В 1994 году вуз получил современное название.

2.1 Undergraduate Programs in Chinese
Description: 4-year programs in various fields: Chinese language, translation studies, international relations, economics, journalism, etc. Requires advanced Chinese proficiency (HSK 5).
Requirements:
High school diploma (above average grades)
Age: under 25 years
HSK 5 (typically 180+ points, may vary by program)
Entrance exams or interview (faculty-specific)

3.1 Master's Programs in Chinese
Description: 2-3 year programs for advanced study in a chosen field. Requires fluency in academic Chinese.

HSK 5 or HSK 6 (depending on program, typically 210+ points)

Prior agreement from a supervising professor (recommended)
